, juliette goodrich is at the hall of justice in san francisco with what police are saying tonight. >> reporter: tonight, san francisco police are investigating this sexual assault allegation involving 49ers' wide receiver michael crabtree. as of tonight, amid this investigation, cbs 5 has learned he is in atlanta with his team. san francisco police say the alleged sexual assault involving 49ers' michael crabtree occurred in a san francisco hotel room last sunday morning after the 49ers play-off victory over the green bay packers. today, crabtree was practicing with the team in santa clara. our cameras caught him literally running late to board the team bus as it was en route to the airport and then on to atlanta. in a news release, the san francisco police department said, quote, michael crabtree has been interviewed with his lawyer present and has cooperated in this investigation. michael crabtree has not been detained or arrested and has agreed to make himself available to investigators in the future. the 49ers say they are aware of the al

way for an innocent bystander who died in a new year's day crash in san francisco. 26-year-old francisco gutierrez was killed while walking outside a liquor store on van nuys avenue. police say a speeder caused the crash while speeding away from officers. another bystander was also killed. he was in a car held by the suspect. >>> san jose police have released the sketch of a man who has a neighborhood on alert after he tried to snatch a child from her mother's arms. police say the three-year-old was playing with other children when the man approached and comment ed on how she looked. feeling uncomfortable, the mother picked up the girl, but the man tried to pull the toddler from her arms. >> when he knelt down, he grabbed my daughter by her feet. we were tugging at each other. and her bottoms were falling off, and then eventually, her boots fell off, and that's when the struggle ended. i ran inside my house and called the police. >> here is a sketch released by police. the man is described as latino, in his 20s wearing a red baseball hat, blue genes and a light colored shir

quality will be a problem as we go through the forecast. clear skies right now in san francisco. what we are finding on the weather board as we look at the pacific, is any sign of storm activity is not 1,000 miles out the here but about 2,000 miles and you can see it clearly arcing off to the north. that is due to the circulation around high pressure. with that said, you will get your sunshine for this weekend and you will get plenty of mild temperatures. let's get a look on who will get in on some of the heat. as we go through saturday, half moon bay looks to hit 70, beach weather mixed in here. walnut creek 70 and dpil roy 70 and san francisco close with upper 60s. this is quite a bit of a jump. again, it will come a a cost with the spare the air in effect. with the worst air quality in the north and also for the central bay tomorrow. may want to limit that outdoor exposer if you suffer from allergies or breathing problems. >>> 36 in san jose and also 43 in los gatos. we will get the sunshine out here and we will feel the warmth and you will need the sunglasses and maybe even, get away

to figure out what happened on san francisco bay. cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran is on treasure island with some new information about the man in control of the ship that hit the bay bridge yesterday morning. >> reporter: good morning. that pilot is in the hot seat today as that tanker you can see behind me is staying put as the coast guard continues its investigation. this morning that pilot will be face to face with investigators pending the results of a drug test. that tanker was on the way to sea when did hit a fender at the bridge around 6:30 yesterday afternoon. visibility as a quarter mile with fog. no signs of a spill, everybody was safe. caltrans engineers responded but found no significant damage to the bay bridge. >> this is just a scrape to the bridge. >> reporter: the fender acted like a bumper and caltrans says they will replace 40 feet of it but the question is, how did this happen in the first place? coast guard will be meeting with the pilot in a few hours. the "san jose mercury news" identifies him as guy kleess of san francisco.
